Default Historical TI - Sans Marque

    Hi all,

I've been looking at the following razor and I'm just wondering how does it compare to the quarter grind Le Grelot 6/8?

I'm looking for a similar wedge to the Le Grelot (although not actually a Le Grelot, if you see what I mean). I want to have two different heavy-grind razors in my rotation as I don't think I am getting a close enough shave with full hollow grinds, perhaps with the exception of my trusted Puma.

Here is the Sans Marque (image is from Martin's site)

    Thanks for any advice!

I absolutely love staring at this razor every once in a while. my only hesitation is it ain't cheap!!!! I'm sure it's brilliant though. I think I remember Martin telling me it is between half and quarter hollow.

I have the le grelot in the same bone scales and mirror finish and it's beautiful and a great shaver. It's only a 3/4- full grind but it's still great.

If you don't mind about the grind I would go with the grelot based on the price. But if you don't mind the price and want this grind I would for sure go with it.

Either way I've been eyeing this baby myself but won't end up getting it because I'm saving up for my dream razor!

Well right now my dream razor would be a grelot mirror finish in ivory scales.

Right now I have the grelot in bone and rams horn. I want to complete the threesum with ivory scales.

I know it's nothing too crazy but its what I'm saving for. I've slowly sold off everything else I have but my grelots and now I'm close to having enough for the ivory one.

I have two Grelots - one is a quarter grind; the other is 3/4 like yours - but I am just wondering how this razor compares to the Le Grelot quarter grind. I'm not interested in another Le Grelot.

I'm not familiar with that particular razor however I have the Le Grelot. My guess is since the Le Grelot is vintage the steel will be different on the TI and will probably shave differently. The Le Grelot can be a bear to hone by the way. Either way they're both gonna be great shavers.

'Wow that razor is beautiful. Could never get tired of looking at that. I like to have all different kinds of grinds and was looking at this too but the price is quite steep with exchange rate, shipping and customs.

Have you thought about a Wacker? shavingshop.com has one in 1/4 with a spanish point and a roundpoint wedge.

Interestingly, Martin tells me that this razor is a 3/4 hollow rather than a 1/4 grind. Is anyone who owns one of these able to post a pic to settle this? Thanks in advance guys.
