Box full
I've finally managed to fill up the Thiers Issard 7 day box my wife gave me for Christmas. In it I have a Johnson, two Genco's,two Flic's,a Clauss and today my only new one arrived.A Dovo Bismarck with red scales and pearlex inlay (see below). What a lovely razor I love that file work on the spine. It's made me think my other razors are not as sharp though.I just bought a Naniwa 5000 from the same place (theinvisibleedge.co.uk ) and had a go at sharpening the Flic I got from the bay but I guess I haven't given it enough strokes.I shall try again because although it did shave, the shave could have been better. It was a bit rough too so it could also have done with a few more strokes on the 12k.

Nice choice & it's probably better to have taken some time filling the box up, rather than simply buying any old junk!
What other stones do you have? Don't want to make any assumptions, but obviously a 5K can't do everything. It could be that the bevel needs setting properly, & a coarser stone would be required. Also, if you jumped from a 5K to a 12K that's a hell of a leap. It can be done. Around 10,000 laps with the 12 ought to do it!

I have to admit I'm kinda lost as far as honing goes.I have two Belgian blue stones, a Naniwa 5k and a Chinese 12k.I have just ordered (yesterday) another Naniwa this time a 1000 plus a Naniwa nagura (love saying that it makes me feel I can speak Japanese for a second ). I noticed that my Johnson razor had been sharper at the toe and heel but not in the center so I lapped the Naniwa again. I love the width of those Naniwa.Maybe I should sell the begians and stick to Naniwa?
