Default Who makes a good Stainless Steel razor

    Hi,

I'm in the market of purchasing a new razor. I'm after a stainless steel blade, but I'm that out of the loop I have no idea where to start looking. Ive seen Dovo make one called the Renaissance but its a bit out of my price bracket.

    Cheers

There are some less expensive Dovos. Revisor also makes decent razors though I don't know what they start at. Many will tell you that the Classified section on this site is probably the best place to start. And I would avoid eBay until you have a very good idea of what to look for.

These Henckels Friodurs are among my favorites.I like the older ones in a round point like this first one.The newer Spanish points are real nice shavers too.

Dovo will likely be the least expensive option for you in stainless. Henckels are more exe.

The Dovo Renaissance and Micarta blades are excellent shavers as are any of the Dovo's with the #41 blades. The new Boker Stainless is also an excellent shaver.

    Have fun,

    Lynn

If you don't mind going vintage, I'd really recommend a Hess. Their 42's and 44's (and maybe others?) are stainless and they are fantastic.

    Pougee,

+1 on the Dovo EnVogue (Micarta).

It is a superb shaver; so good that I bought another one, and these two (2) are now my mainstream daily razors.

The #41 & #105 Dovo blades are highly regarded.

As to what alloy they are made from, I don't know; previous posts on SRP have indicated that the alloy is similar to 440c and might well be 440c.

Regardless of what the alloy is, the EnVogue (Micarta) takes and holds a super edge

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ
