Thanked: 2Dubl Duck History
Does anyone know of any online source for information about the history of Dubl Duck razors? My searches have proved fruitless.
I have a Gold Edge and a Special No. 1 out being restored right now and would love to know their approximate age. I know they are vintage, but don't really know the years they were produced.
Edit--I did stumble on this list of straight razor manufacturers and their dates of operation. Bresduck is listed, but still a very little info.

If you haven't already done so, take a look at the razor clubs forum here. There are two threads with the various ducks and some info as well. IIRC dubl duck was a brand made by more than one mfg in Solingen. Imported by Bresnick, Bresduck and finally Pearlduck. IMHO Puma made them but that is only an opinion. I believe Dovo definitely made them towards the end. I guess thebigspendur probably knows more than anyone what the history of the company was. He will probably be along soon.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The company was started by Charles Bresnick well before WWll in Manhattan. It was a Barber supply company. He really produced nothing. He sold a variety of razors and the DD logo didn't come until years later. He later changed the name to Bresduck and after WWll Mr Pearlson took over the company and renamed it Pearlduck and moved to Jamaica N.Y. Later in the 1970s or 80s they moved to Garden City N.Y under new mgmt where they sold beauty Supplies and later the name was bought and they still exist (or did a few years ago) in Westchester N.Y selling dog grooming supplies.

Thanked: 2Thanks! I have exactly two straights, one a Special No. 1 and the other a Gold Edge. They were the first two straights I ever laid eyes on and I bought them both. One was from a flea market and the other from an antique store. Now, I am sort of obsessed with them and think they can be found anywhere. Not true, I know. I was just very lucky.
Now I have visions of Grim Reapers, Satin Edges, Satin Wedges, Wonder Edges, and Dwarfs dancing in my head.
I sent my two off to Bob Keyes for restoration, so I know they are going to come back beautiful.
