Thanked: 18Boker Arbolito (Little tree)
Hi to all
I live in Chile and now, at 57 years old, i want a change in my shaving.I had purchased a new Dovo but something like a tiny compulsion has began on me.
So i bought an old straight razor as antique and i have a lot of doubts.
It is Boker Arbolito model Edelweiss. Made in Germany and also script Alemania. So i think is a model for spanish or latin american market. Am i right?
I know anything about this razor and any help will be greatly appreciate.
As a fact of interest, for me at least, in the handle the word Edelweiss is wrong. Edelrveiss??
Best regards

That is a very good razor you've got there. And it appears to be in excellent condition. Have zero doubt!

You could not have bought a better razor! My Edelweiss is near the top of my shaving rotation favorites. How are your honing skills, or do you know an old barber who can do it for you?

Thanked: 18Thanks for yours advices.
I also think this razor is a very good one. When i bought it was with many spots grey or almost black in the blade. I only rub with some wd40 and then a common metal polisher with a piece of soft flannel and a beatiful shine show up.
I still have a few points i'd like to check :
How i can know the blade characteristics? Inox steel or carbon?
What material is the handle made of? For example.
Not being experienced in honing i think i need find and old barber here in Santiago, as suggested, and ask for help and his opinion.
Have a nice day
G

Welcome to SRP! Stainless steel (Inox) razors will note that the razor is that on the tang stamp or elsewhere on the blade. No Inox or stainless marked on the razor and it is carbon steel. The scales (handles) are probably some type of plastic. Nice find!

Welcome. Lovely find. I have that blade (though your scales are much nicer than mine) and it took, and keeps, a great edge. One of my favourite shavers, never fallen out of my rotation, even temporarily.

Thanked: 480Very Beautiful!
If you cant find a local hone person, many of us here at SRP would be happy to take care of it for you. I would do it just to have the excuse to test shave it. You know, just to be sure it was sharp enough!

Hi, there. Nice razor. I'm particularly interested in yours as I just bought a new Boker Edelweiss a few weeks ago--my first straight razor.
I think the writing on the scales says 'w'. It looks slightly different from the writing on the blade, but it still strikes me as a 'w' when I see it. The two fonts/scripts are slightly different anyway.
Good luck getting it shave ready. I look forward to hearing more about it.
