There are NOS of these around, but some (most?) are recently ground (and maybe even recently heat treated?) from old blanks.

So are the new ones still a good razor and are they made the same was as the NOS. How do they compare to the NOS.

So will this be a good shave razor is what I want to know or are the new ones junk.

Bnick, I have been shaving with a Friodur for almost a year now, believe me, they are excellent razors. Matter of fact, I own the 7/8 and the 8/8 Friodur...both outstanding razors. The only thing though, is that they are INOX and are a PITA to hone, the steel is hard as compared to my DOVO Best Quality, overall I highly recommend this razor. HOG

I think I have only shaved with the new grind ones. They are really nice shavers. Some have said that the actual NOS ones are a little bit smoother - probably due to a better grind. But the new ones are by no means junk; I really like them and have one in my "rotation."

Also, the scales on the new grind ones are put on by whoever finishes the razor, or maybe even by someone after that, so they vary in quality. I have seen some of the ebay ones that had rather rough pinning, some in wood that looked really terrible, and others that are great. Seems something of a crap shoot. The one I have was finished (scales and filework on the spine) by Robert Williams (at least that is what both Lynn and Don guessed when I showed it to them), and the fit and finish is top quality.
