The Cutiecut Co.
i just bought a nice razor marked The Cutiecut Co. Boston on one side, and Made in Germany on the other. Has the number 250 on it. blade is nice and clean, black scales, white wedge. The Cutiecut Co. still is listed in Boston, but there don't seem to be any entries in the database here. Anybody ever heard of it?

it shows up as being at 50 temple place. i know where that is. may have to check it out the next time i'm in boston.
added after a little googling..cutiecut looks to be a trademark of the the Stoddard Cutlery co. which used to have a store on temple place, and where i once bought a Henckel's chef knife in 1978, which i still use on a daily basis. my daughter goes to suffolk univ and lived in a dorm one street over and the stoddard store is long abandoned. they moved to the chestnut hill mall, and i just turned up the fact that they have moved to nonantum in newton. they had a lot of knives on display in that store on temple place.Last edited by Noisykids; 09-12-2010 at 10:24 PM.

Most likely your razor was made an anonymous German manufacturer and stamped with the Cutiecut name for resale in their stores. Numerous retailers had razors made and personalized with no way of knowing who actually made the razor or the quality of their product.

that's exactly what i figured. it's not marked with the name of any manufacturer, just Made in Germany. i'm ordering the norton 4k/8k tonight to try and get some of these razors i've picked up into service.

i called stoddard cutlery today and talked to the owner. he confirmed that cutiecut is still one of their trademarks in their wholesale business. they used to source products from all over the world and put their own trademarks on them. I know i'm not going to spell this right..Heljestrand apparently is another one. Stoddard was also the first company to bring Swiss army knives into the US. They still sell straight razors, but the selection is not as wide as it once was as the owner said three or four of their suppliers have closed. he did say they sell Dovo razors and has the norton 4k/8k for 95 bucks. it's 79 bucks at amazon. this is where that whole support-a-local-merchant thing comes in. 16 extra bucks, plus the gas to go probably 60 mile round trip....i don't know.
