Thread: Boker Arbolito (2)

Hello to everybody:
In South America, specially Argentina and Chile, knives Arbolito were greatly appreciated at ending years of 19th and first half of 20th century.
Now, as a proud owner of an old Boker Arbolito Edelweiss razor, I have made some research and know that Boker success before 1900 moves to founding branch in USA and Mexico.
For exporting goods to South America they created the mark Arbolito, best knowed for the tree logo on the blade. Many illiterate those days
The Argentinean writer Jorge Luis Borges published " The meeting" a short story about a knife duel in 1910. One of those protagonist weapons had a tree stamped on the blade.

Looking for information about my razor I found this site:

Obviously I’m not sure for accuracy of this description but I don’t care. One of the pictures shows that the mark on scale, which once amazed me, was right.
Finally this week I went to an old barber shop here in Santiago and get my razor honed.
The razor was approved by the barber and gives me a great shave.

Once again excuse me for any mistake in language.

Hooo! Look at that dished out coti he is honing on. A great example that flat-flat hones are over rated.

I myself am a fan of Solingen brands that succeeded in South America, like the Arbolito (Boker), El Casco (Kirschbaum), Corneta (Gebr. Weyersberg) and others.

"PeluquerÃa Francesa" is and old barber shop with a great history. Nowadays it is still a barber shop but also restaurant and antiques store.
