    Default Japanese Straight

A little while ago I brought a Japanese straight on here its a fantastic razor but on the last few shaves I'm just finding that my other straights seem to suit me better, So do I keep it in the hope that things will improve or let it go, Bearing in mind I have wanted a Japanese straight for many years.....

Dont listen to me as I am about 4 weeks in to Straight shaving but I'm the kind of person that I don't like stuff just to look at....if I don't use it I want it gone.

That being said, judging by the size, couldnt you use it regularly to get at those pesky hairs under the nose or at the corners of the mouth?

IME if it worked well at one time I would put it away for a time and come back to it. Sometimes absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

You should definitely get rid of it, in fact for a nominal fee I'll do it for you! Actually if I was you I'd keep it if I got rid of razors every time my tastes changed I'd be even more in debt than I am. I find after sitting for a few weeks I start to itch to try a blade I had previously thought I was done with.

Thanks for the advice like I said its a great razor and the shave is so different than anything I get from a western blade, With just one pass you notice the difference, The thing is I really want to be in love with this but the different shaving technique and oh I don't know......... Sometimes we find when we get what we always wanted it turns out to be a letdown.

It's just another shaving tool and another skill to learn in your journey to shaving mastery.

Just curious...how is the shave different? Do you mean the technique you use or how close it gets or what? Oddly enough, a Jap Straight is what I've always wanted to do but figured it would be easier to start with a normal one.

Well because the are made for the Barber and not the customer you have to shave like your being shaved by a barber you don't use the stamped side which is the natural side you use the back side, I think if you want a Japanese straight get one of these first as I have used a straight for around 20 years and am not finding this new learning curve that easy, Not saying its bad but we all fall back on oid habits

Safe to say it's a totally different experience and if you use it properly it can be like learning to use a straight all over again.
