    Default Double duck opinions

I have two stainless steel dovos at the moment, heaven knows why I have two. Two requirements:

    1) I need all my straights to be stainless, they are able to save me from myself.
    2) I have been thinking of buying a double duck to get something with a different personality then my dovos.

Do you think that the double duck meets my requirements? If they do not what do you recommend?

If they do make a stainless you will have a difficult time finding one. Crabon is not that hard to care for. Just wipe it good then let it sit out for a day before putting it away. Light oil. I also use Rena wax

You know... stainless is not rust proof. So if you are leaving your razors sitting in puddles of water all day, they will eventually rust/tarnish too.

I've gotten stainless razors from Puma, Henckles Friodur, C-Mon, and some customs. They are all good but I still prefer carbon. I take care of them all in the same manner regardless of type. Rinse, dry with tissue, strop 20 laps on leather and wipe with a silicon gun clothe and a rust preventative. Store in a dry area. Ducks are scarce in stainless. I think holli4pirating has one but I don't know too many who do.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I have a DD Stainless and it's a very smooth shaver indeed. Never stains if maintained properly. However my other Ducks give me the same quality shave. If you can eventually grab one I would just because they don't show up that often.
Just remember they were made by Dovo probably in the late50's/early60's.

If you want a different feeling SS razor then I suggest the Hess #44 they are not tooooooo rare, you can find them, and they are probably the smoothest feeling SS blade I have used so far... IMHO

If you are looking for a stainless duck, I wish you the best of luck. They seem to be very rare.

What other makers besides dovo make stainless steel razors? The bay has a few but I have never heard of the brand names.

You can pick up a new Henckles friodur 8/8 and 7/8 on the bay for about $100. I have one and one from shavingshop. Outstanding shaver. I used mine last night with heavenly results!

Probably most of the stainless vintage razors out there are the henkels. Most of the stainless blades were made at the tail end of the straight era so they can be scarce but you will see them on Eboy. The stainless duck is hard to come by. I have one. If you keep reading the listings one will eventually turn up but I'm not sure you will want to pay the price.

I would look for another brand frankly.
