    Default Help with razor ID

    Hi,
Do any of the razorologists know where I can find info on an E. Gilbert, 52 Edgeware razor?
I believe its a whalebone handle and came as part of a Victorian era travel set.
    Thanks
    Harry

You should post some pictures. That would be nice.

Ah, photo's. Well my wife and I have been trying to take some pictures with our Nikon coolpix, but even with the flash off they look pretty bad. Also close ups are really blurry. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Since I got it from ebay, here is the link and you can see it before I started cleaning it up. I shaved with the razor this morning after two days of honing. It's very light, and shaved well from my very limited experience.

What a nice kit! Could not find an E. Gilbert in Goins', but that might have been the merchant, not the cutler. The razor scales look like typical cow bone, with the usual end pores, but the brush handle and needle handle do not. They may be whalebone, but I don't have any experience with it. Maybe another member can help here. Congratulations on a real bargain!
