I purchased a Wm Elliot & Co. razor and was trying to find more info but all I can find is...

New York City.
ca. 1880-1907; in 1907, the firm was taken over by Adolph Strauss & Co., who continued using "Wm. Elliot & Co." as a trademark."

I have lots of questions.

New York? So this is an American made razor? or were they just importers?
How can I get a better idea of the date of this razor?
Did they change thier mark thoughout the years?
How long did Adolph Strauss use the mark? That might at least give me a final date. Can anyone give me an idea of the quality of WM Elliot & Co. razors and perhaps a general value? I'm not planning on selling it, just for my own curiosity.
