Razor or microtome ?
Hi.
I've spotted this razor for auction. It looks like a razor and it is listed as a razor, but shape of a tail is unusual. Maker's mark remind me the esculap's snake symbol . Opinions very welcome. Thanks.

Does look like a microtone. Unless you have tissue samples to slice I would pass.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 13245To be SURE you need a pic of the backside of the razor, as there will be no shoulder cut if it is a Microtome...
But +1 with Jimmy I think it is too...

Good point. Probably backside is different and thats why the seller list only pictures of frontside.I will pass definitely . Thanks .

Thanked: 70Why pass?
At a minimum, pick it up and sell it here to a collector. Easily recoup what you spend.

I gotta Wragg microtome and have toyed with the idea of hollow grinding the flat side. Maybe making a slightly smaller razor, would this be feasible?

According to this tread http://straightrazorpalace.com/advan...microtome.html microtome can be honed and can be used for shaving . Hope this helps.
