    Default Just in Case, Temperite!

Recently I won this razor on ebay, it appears to be a Case Temperite razor that was re-scaled using Carl Monkhaus C-Mon scales. It came somewhat sharp but not shave ready so I took the plunge and tried to touch it up on my Coticule natural combo rather than send it to Lynn.

Given that this was my first try at honing a razor I could not believe the results... I'm getting the best shave so far from all my razors and since I'm no "honemeister" I have to assume that part of the credit goes to the quality of the Case Temperite steel. It has a very different feel than my Wostenholm Pipe or my Clauss USMC...feels very firm and sure. I'd love to learn more about Case, about Temperite steel and hear other Case owners experiences.

BTW: can anyone date the razor or the scales?

Yup, Case's, being American, have harder steel than Sheffield razors (your Wosty). What's the grind? I don't remember if the 20's are full or quarter hollow.

I believe full grind. It feels like it's gliding through the beard where as the Wosty and the Clauss have a resonance to them.

Yes, very quality blade. According the stamp, the blade was made 1955-1962.

    Thanks for the date manah.

I'm curious, do you have some reference material or is there a wiki in the SRP that shows the different markings?

Hi Manah, I see you are in Israel. Are there any artisans in Israel making fine straight razors? My cousin in in the knife business there as well as an internationally recognized knife fighting martial artist...I would have him buy me one if you can recommend one.

    Thanks!

Nothing. I know some knifemakers, but nobody make razors.
May be, I'll begin to make straights after a couple of years.

Do you have a store or a showroom where you keep your razors and knifes? I'll be in Israel in early June for my nephew's Bar-Mitzvah and would love to meet you and see your collection.
