Thanked: 70Cast Steel or Warranted earlier
One question I have that the fine article posted last week didn't cover.
Does anyone know which was earlier; razors marked Warranted or razors marked Cast Steel?
Or would it depend on the features of the particular razor?
I have a Warranted, maybe a Roberts Warranted, on the way off of Fleabay and I'm curious.

I have no information about your razors age, although it looks to be pre-1850 to me. Lovely carved bone scales! The shave from a well honed wedge made of high quality steel feels smoother than a hollow ground blade to me, and has much less feedback. They just mow the whiskers down without much sound. Nice find.

Cast steel marking and Warranted mark were since 1790.
Your razor was made approximately 1810-1830.Alex Ts.

Thanked: 70Thanks, y'all.
Manah, I was thinking it looks a heck of a lot like your Warranted.
I can't wait for it to get here.

I'd agree with the age, but the scales are painted horn, not bone.
