    Smile Wade & Butcher Straights

Being new to straight razor shaving I naturally look at razors for sale on ebay. Can someone explain to me why Wade & Butcher razors go for such high prices? Thanks.

Simply for the demand of them. I've heard they're great shavers but I wont say for sure until the new scales are on mine and it's off the hones

Brand name. Don't get me wrong, they are great shavers, but so are other brands that don't have the same high prices/reps.

Because people want them and are willing to pay that much for them.

It is like asking why folks like a Chevy a Toyota or a Audi. They accomplish the task at hand, but in a different way.

I think that you'll find that a 5/8 Wade and Butcher doesn't fetch anymore than any other good makers 5/8. Wade and Butcher made a high number of "big blades" (7/8 or bigger) and these are the ones that are sought after and fetch big money. I've seen alot more Wade and Butcher big blades than any other maker.
