Thanked: 4Saginaw Razor? Help ID
Found a couple razors at the local antique shop, and am wondering if anyone knows anything about this razor. I tried some searching, but the only thing I found from Saginaw, Michigan is W.H. Morley and Sons.
Anyone know anything about these?
It appears to have had some gold wash (almost orange) along the tang, and the front, so I’m guessing it was also along the spine. It’s also on the shoulder so who knows how extensive it was.

Wow! I bet that looked great in its heyday! Have you honed it or shaved with it yet?

Thanked: 4No I haven't. I just picked it up this afternoon, and there are a few others in front of it in line for attention.
Until you mentioned it, I hadn't given it much thought, but your right, it probably did look good at one time. It would be nice if there was a pic floating around showing what it once was. I know it's got gold on the shoulder, the point, and the tang. Who knows where else.
As for honing, I'm still feeling my way through the dark on that. I've enough to limp by on, but not really where I should be.
I think it's fortunate that that Saginaw blade is in the condition that it's in. Hopefully someone will have more info on it.

Did you try a search on Ray Kerns? It is probably a marketing piece as there is a beauty supply store called Ray Kerns though currently it is based in Flint and not Saginaw.
