    Default Ruined Dorko scales

I guess this was bound to happen sooner or later. I was rinsing off some razors after soaking them in barbicide. we'll i guess the water must have been too hot and warped the scales on my Dorko which sucks because it is a really nice looking razor and shaves great. The scales are warped on both ends, making the razor open very easily and it has to be closed slowly to avoid damaging the edge. Tried soaking in hot water again to bend it back, but it appears to have made the material in the scales shrink a little. The razor is the one on the left in the picture. Anyone know where I can get some Dorko scales other than ebay? I'm just worried about damaging the razor with the warped scales. Thanks in advance for inputs,
    Conrad

The Dorko is in vintage scales so they are not made any more. I am not aware of anyone have them in NOS condition that have not already been on a blade. You have three choices. 1) Find a Dorko with a damaged blade and use those scales on this one. 2) Have custom scales made. 3) Try harder to straighten out the scales that are on the razor now. Some of us have had success using a hair dryer to heat and straighten warped scales. I don't have the time to search for you right now but search through the WIKI and SRP for hair dryer. I know there are several threads that describe the process and I know I posted some tips.

    Good luck.

If you can get the scales straight again and the blade doesnt fit because the scales have shrunk and the wedge spacer is in the way, you may be able to file a bit off the wedge very carefully with a rat-tail file or use a bit of broken saw blade.
