    Uniclectica gives 1834-1921
    They were one of the handful companies to hold a royal warrant.
    You probably want to get them honed and then you can decide for yourself whether to keep or sell them.

    so problaly need sanding,buffing and polishing first,am i wright?i found some info,which maybe be helpful for someone about Thomas Turner:

    * 1802 Company established.

    * 1898 Amalgamated with Wingfield, Rowbotham and Co.

    * 1914 Manufacturers of crucible steel, saws, files, table and pocket cutlery, scissors, razors, edge tools and electro-plate. Specialities: Joseph Hayward and Co's celebrated "Kettle" brand pen and pocket knives. Employees 800. [1]

    * 1929 Listed Exhibitor - British Industries Fair. Manufacturers of "Royal" Safety Razor Blades and "Royal" Shaving Soaps. Showing in conjunction with Robert W. Phillips. (Stand No. M.4) [2]

    * 1947 Listed Exhibitor - British Industries Fiar. Manufacturers of Canteens, Flatware, Hotelware, Safety Razor Blades, Cutlery, Scissors, Pocket Knives, Pewterware, Butchers Knives, Slicers, Palette and Cooks' Knives. (Olympia, Ground Floor, Stand No. D.1676) [3]

    So thats means that they make razors only between 1914 and 1929?

    Thomas Turner is one of the famous Sheffield knives/razors makers.
    There is some info in the WIKI about Thomas Turner.

    As far as I can tell, sometimes it's the way you think and sometimes not. I picked up a Mappin & Webb double coffin box a month ago with what I am reasonably sure are the original razors. Both of the scales are different and while the blades are identical (hone wear makes this difficult to say for sure but I think so), the monkey tails are slightly different. I thought that perhaps this was to make them easy to differentiate in the absence of other marking. Maybe this is because the two day sets were aimed at the middle classes as opposed to the aristocracy. Or perhaps I'm just overthinking it.

    Unfortunately, mine are just a nice set and too damaged to shave with/save beyond conservation (at the price, I couldn't resist the box with the apparently original contents as a bonus). Yours look like a very nice little score. Good one.

    Hello Sailor! I picked up a similar razor to your's just a couple of hours ago at an Edinburgh antiques fair. I'm polishing it up with Autosol as I type . The scales are black otherwise it's "The Royal Navy Razor". Great to have all the information without having to ask or search for it...thanks everybody.

    Congrats for your score, LordJohn. Antique fairs and flea markets can sometimes be really good sources for treasures like yours.
    Like all Sheffields, mine was a damn to hone, but once i had it done it has been an excellent shaver. It would be most interesting to know if Turner ever had a contract with British Navy or was this just a marketing trick.
    Remember to post some pics once you had it cleaned!
