    Default Lookin for razor vendors

I would be interested I knowing of places to purchase straight razors. Looking for something economical, also used. I have been looking at the classifieds and Whipped Dog, but not found what I'm looking for yet; still looking. I would like to know of other places to look as well.

I live in Canada, so I would be interested in knowing of anyone's experience in ordering from the US into Canada as far as extra charges for import. Is there a difference for new or used or does it depend on the price?

I did find one razor at a shop. A Puma High Class. I didn't measure it, but I think it looked like 6/8 or bigger. They wanted $55, but she said she would come down.

If you don't buy that, can you buy it for me? A 6/8 or bigger Puma for $55 is a great bargain. Was it in good condition?

In my experience you will not be charged duty on the old razor( I have to qualify, that would depend on the value). Please allow me to contribute my 2 cents. If you are starting out, take a look at Wapis at Fendrihan.com. These are excellent shavers.

I know from shipping items to Canada if you want Priority so it gets there within 10 days from the US it is about 14 bucks for shipping. First class for a razor I am not sure as I almost always ship Priority or Express when it goes outside the US.
Rasage Poulin Fine Shaving and Grooming Products: Calgary, Alberta, Canada is also another Canadian vendor. The Puma is a good find if it is in decent shape. You may need to send it out to get properly honed first before using so figure that into any costs as well.

I'm in Vancouver -- sympathize with you. Cross-border shipping can be expensive.

"Luvshavin" is a Canadian eBay seller of razors:

    eBay My World - luvshavin

I haven't bought any razors from him, but a set of scales were exactly as advertised.

Fendrihan's shipping charges (and prices) are rather high, but they've got nice merchandise.

I strongly recomend you purchase the Puma High Class, if it is in worth while condition. I have one my self and I promise you. For $55, for the Puma you will not find a better deal or a better shaver for that matter.

I buy and sell alot of vintage razor and do alot of shipping and its only $11 US for shipping with $200 insurance and a conformation number.

I agree that if the Puma is in good shape it would be well worth what they are asking, even if it stretches your budget a bit... that is a very fine razor at a very fine price!

If she lets you, get some pictures and ask her to hold it for you, with an agreed price, and then show the photos here. The experienced members here can let you know if it is in good shape or not (sometimes it is deceptive!) and then you can decide whether or not to buy it based on that.

Otherwise, Fendrihan and Rasage Poulin are both reputable Canadian vendors.

    Thanks for the advice.
I put a hold on the Puma. They said they will hold it 5 days so that will give me time to take pictures and post them. After the comments on the Puma I'm seriously considering it. I would be interested in what people think of the condition. From what I remember the blade looked good with a little scratching it one spot on the bottom of the blade, but don't think it should hurt. The scales were a little loose opening, but snug up when opened. I'll have to take another look, my memory is not clear.

I'm in Quebec and can tell you that it takes from 6 days to 2 weeks getting something from USA. If you buy a new one and it get ship with UPS you'll pay customs, best is with USPS.

Go look at Holly4pirating here in forum you'll find some great beginer razor at really good prices. I bought 2 from him and get 1 hone by him and they're my best shaver!!!!
