    Default Erusta 96 solingen germany?

I am relatively new to straight razor shaving and I'm hoping that some SRP members can weigh in on this razor. It is a 6/8 that has the #96 Erusta Solingen Germany on one side of the tang and finest quality on the other. It has Erusta solingen on one side of the scales and three pins. Any info on this razor would be great. Ex. Quality, history, ect.. I haven't found any info on this razor yet but I'll keep looking. Sorry no photo, unable to upload pics to my computer.

    Thanks guys,
    Louis.

Can't help with the make/brand, but most "Erusta" marked razors have "Bohlersteel" (aka Boehlersteel) on the tang. Gebruder Bohler were not the makers - they supplied the steel. Albert and Emil Bohler founded their steelworks in Vienna in 1870, opened an office in Sheffield, England, in 1874 and bought a crucible steelworks in Austria in 1894. Their first special steel was made in 1900, so your razor must date to after 1900, when Bohler had expanded worldwide and offered many speciality steels. They are still a going concern today.

Other 'Erusta' razors I have seen look to be around the 1930s - 1950s era: hard to say what year yours is without a photo, though.

    Regards,
    Neil
