Thanked: 0Newby start-up costs
My wife won't give me a hard time since I used my birthday as an excuse! This was my first experience with the straight shave. My dad used a safety razor, but can't find it. So I bought a W.R. Case & Sons "Real Red Point" on Ebay from an SRP guy $61. I got a "Dovo's Best Russian Leather Strop" for $76. I picked up a "KEEN KUTTER Razor Hone No 15 Extra Quality" Circa 1915 (in original box) $26. Probably another $20 in soap and a cheap brush. I'm in about $183 and shaving!
I'm sure this is just a start, and the end to my honesty about expenditures!

But what did I save?
I may be justifying, like my wife used to about shoe sales, but I get money back.
I'll spend money on what interests me. I've spent my share of cash on other projects, mostly bikes.
I love the relatively smaller dollars, and project size of a razor. Spending four hours on a razor is far Le$$ than spending four hours on a motor.
My glass is more than half full.
Doesn't matter what I'm doing, If I'm to fill out a spread sheet for what I 'spend'....then time for a new hobby.
