Thread: Why 2 grinds?

    ok say you start grinding with an 8in wheel and remove enough steel on both sides, to make a wedge, then you go to a smaller, say 6in wheel to only the front side and grind a smaller segment into the blade face, this creates the belly htey are talking about giving you one wedge side and one hollowed out...wala you got a microtome or traditional kamisori,got it?

    That microtome profile reminds me of a japanese razor.
    One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

    Microtomes look similar but kamisoris are hollow on both sides
