Welcome to the world of Str8s. Nice razor and congrats on the first shave. if you thought the blade was smooth and effortless from the factory, wait until you try a shave after it has been properly honed.

Thanked: 2Yes, im definitely going to send it out to be honed, but right now I just want to practice a bit of shaving.
I stropped the razor yesterday after my shave and tried the hanging hair test and it popped the hair instantly. I have a feeling this has been honed.
Is it possible since knifecenter is offering these old forgings that they have someone honing them?

I had a razor I honed pass the hanging hair test a couple of days ago, but when I shaved with it, I realized it was not shave ready. The HHT is not a valid indicator of the shave readiness of a razor.
Check the classifieds and send it to a professional and you will be shocked at the difference.

Congrats!!! Beautiful razor. Do NOT send to anyone other than Lynn to hone. It will come back to you perfect. I like your idea to get a practice razor. Did the same myself and was very happy to avoid worrying about messing up a good instrument.

Dang, you have good taste
That's beautiful. I've never tried a TI, though I've seen ones I'd like to try.
I hope it serves you well for decades. If it isn't an instant love affair - hang on to it. As your skills develop, you'll find blades you didn't like - shave very well. (Dovo Stainless micarta was the one I almost sold).
