Default Griffon XX #60 Carbo Magnetic

I scored this little razor at the local antique mall for $20. It is my first straight, so I hope I did well. It needs a little work, but the scales and blade are in good shape (I think). Can anybody tell me anything about it? Is it in good shape?

Sorry about the poor picture quality.

    Regards!

Yes it looks to be in fine shape, clean it, hone it, and enjoy it...

I can tell you they are really good razors they hone up just fine, and shave a lick, I just honed one the other day...

I recently added one to my collection, too. It honed up easily and shaves nicely. Yeah, nice score. Enjoy it!

Before I bought mine, I searched the razor threads for "Carbo Magnetic" and found lots of good reviews by lots of frequent/credible posters.

Do you have the $120 worth of hones to go with it?

For me, that's be funnest part of old razors, is making them shave again.

    Cool. Thanks guys.

    Right now I have:

    DMT-D8XX for heavy lapping
    DMT-D8C for light lapping/heavy repair
    Shapton GlassStone 1000
    Shapton GlassStone 4000
Belgian Blue/Coticule Natural Combination Hone (8"x3")

The GlassStone pull double duty on my kitchen knives. I might add an 8000 GlassStone in the future. I have not used my BB/Coticule yet. I want to be proficient on the synthetics first.

    Regards.
