    Default Good deal?

I just received in the mail a Joseph Rodgers & sons 5/8 with a barbers notch, that i won on ebay for $20. I think I got a good deal, but I'm not experienced enough to know for sure. I'm hoping that some of you guys can let me know what you think.

    Thanks,
    Louis.

It has the potential to be a good deal. The blade has been sanded, so the spine may have been altered and may be more difficult to hone. If you have someone hone it for you, then that will cost you another $20 and then your $40 razor will be a very good deal. If you try to hone it yourself, depending on your ability, you may struggle with it and not get the spine right. In that case it won't be a good deal.

I think you got a bad deal on this one. I'll gladly take it off your hands for $20 plus shipping.

    Good luck.

Now the pictures are showing, yes, nice score. Though, Utopian's post is very pertinent. Send it out for honing=great deal. DIY=lottery. Good luck, it's a lovely looking piece.

With a good amount of honing and some Maas to polish it, I'd say so. Looks pretty cool to me.

    FWIW --

I recently bought a Joseph Rodgers "Royal Razor" at an antique shop, for about what you paid. It took a while for me to sharpen and hone it (they all do), and it's a very nice shaver.

    Thumbs up

For $20, that's not only a good deal, it's a steal . Excellent score and enjoy toying with the polish/sand

It's a good deal, and you've got it for 100 years at least
