    Default Dovo Prima Klang Questions

I think the toe of my Dovo Special flexes a little (barely noticeably) more than the heel, but this seems to help the razor shave noticeably (but not hugely) closer on difficult areas under the corners of my mouth, and on my chin. So I'm wondering if a Prima Klang would work even better for me.

How much does the Prima Klang flex compared to the standard Dovo full hollow razors ? Is it too flexy for most people with 10 months of daily straight razor shaves to control ? Is it too flexy for most people with coarse / wiry stubble, and thin / easily nicked skin to use easily ?

Also, I like the blade / handle balance of the best quality / special, but find the bone models too handle-heavy to control when rounding the corner from the chin to start shaving under the jaw. Does the thin blade and metal wedge + big pin washer on the Prima Klang make it feel handle heavy ?

    Thanks.

    JohnG10,

The Dovo Prima Klang is an extra-hollow grind, and therefore will flex a bit more than fuller grinds such as the full-hollow Special.

The degree of 'flex' can be controlled via changes of angle, and which part of the blade is usded to do the cutting.

Using a shallower angle than the recommended 20 -30 degrees, say 10 -15 or even have the blade almost flat on the face, will help the blade flex less, as will using very minimal pressure during the shave. Ensuring that the whiskers are fully softened before shaving will also help. Using the edge in the middle or toe regions will also reduce the amount of flex. The converse will give you more flex.

Each razor has its own 'personality', and once you learn what that is, you will be good to go

For me, the balance of both the Special and the Prima Klang is spot on.

If you really like a blade, and find the scales un-balanced, you could consider getting the razor re-scaled; I have done this for quite a few of my favourite blades.

Both the Dovo Special & the Prima Klang are fine shavers

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ
