Default Extensive list of German razor makers

I found this list of Solingen razor makers: listing many razor makers and their brands.

    Something for the wiki?

I am not very good with the wiki so this might be something for the ICT gurus here.

    Razor makers

Here is another list that matches brand names to manufacturers:

    That is an amazing list.

I have to confess that I was struck by the number of names of people in the list. Before skimming that list, I never gave a thought to the distinction between the imprint of the name of a company versus the name of a person. Every one of those names represent the life's work of a man who made his living making those razors. Those razors represent a legacy of their work.

Can you imagine the surprise the makers would experience if they knew what has transpired since then? How pleased they would be that their work is still held in high regard? Their satisfaction level would be very high.

Many of their razors are likely to last longer than their tombstones.

If it would be a useful addition to the SR database, I could extract only the open-razor manufacturers and recreate the list so each brand had its own entry, with a reference back to its maker.

    The current list goes

Maker: Brand 1, Brand 2, Brand 3, etc.

I could make one that goes

    Brand 1: Maker
    Brand 2: Maker
    Brand 3: Maker
    etc.

so people could search a little more easily.

I used to be a database monkey and would be happy to do this.

Someone in charge let me know if this would be useful.

I am not in charge but I think it would be very useful.

These both look like the same list - or did I do it wrong?

I'm not in charge, but if you want to use the Wiki that should not be a problem

The current 'SRDB' would benefit from a thoughtful categorization overhaul. Feel free to use the Wiki's sandbox to test your scheme. But are you talking about editing the current setup or creating another one dependent or independent of it?

But maybe you are not talking about the SRDB in the Wiki. There is a longer (but still short) list of makers in the Wiki on a separate page here. It is not much more than a list of makers though, with sparse information and some links to pages in the SRDB. But if that's close to what you have in mind, you might want to simply add the info on that page to what you have. Not every razor is marked with a brand though - and I am not 100% certain that every maker used at least one brand name different than the maker name
Find me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

@ hoglahoo: 2nd list also has brand names as an entry, on the first one only names of manufacturers feature as an entry.
