This is a throat razor for SS units:

This is my German stainless steel surgical/hospital razor made by Aesculap:



Any idea how old it might be? It's a 4/8 hollow-ground and shaves very very well.

I never understood, why somebody write such things on the razor. Name or number ... I was in two armies, and never wrote and never saw such things on the razor or ...on toothbrush.

I have to say that i am very sceptic of this being real. Or the razor might have been used by SS, SA or Wehrmacht but i'd like to believe that someone has tuned the scales afterwards.
I've seen some of the old war stuff from Germany and Russia and our own of course and i find it hard to believe that any army would have made such markings on things of everyday use. Maybe something more simple stamp but not SS, Luftwaffe etc.
Of course i might be wrong. My late great uncle served in Wiking Division and the only item i saw marked with SS was a dagger that was carried only on parades, not on everyday service.

The Nazis were crazy propagandists. I don't have any difficulty believing that they would put their logo's and other crap on their blades. Not saying it's real, I just don't think that it is that far out of the realm of possibilities for that regime.

For some time I was looking for the razor origin on the photo but probably it is really false just to get money from customers.
I have seen the razor from the Solingen original producer and it had an owner name manually engraved on scales together SS sign and date 1939. That means at least at that time SS troops did not get razors as equipment - if ever.
I have not found any historical notice about shaving utilities for German troops in WWII.

At least its a Gotlieb & Hammersfar,one of the best shavers I own,and would never think
of getting rid of or trading for anything else. A new set of scales would not be out of order as I doubt those are really stamped by the ss,and if they were then all the more reason to restore them to something to be proud of,IMHO of course
