right now my best shaver is a dd satin edge thanks
At the moment my best shaver is also a Dubl Duck satingedge.. Or a Greaves & Sons wedge if I have a 3-4 day beard.
a non-desript filly blank, or at least im pretty sure shes a filly. only thing stamped on it was that it was made in spain, in the same way the others are stamped, and "koken" which beats me.
I really really enjoyed my Mappin Lancet Edge and my DePews Perfect Razor... those were the last two I shaved with.
100 % my wacker jungmeister. Looks great and gives a great shave.
Big Joe (pictured) is my favourite. Next in line is my John Watts "B4 Any - Super Razor" seven-day set.
I've had several more "fancy" razors, customs, etc. But these old Sheffield razors still work best for me.

Hard to say as all my razors shave well. Probably my old Jernbolaget razor.
I sold my best western razor. It was a 'Black Demon'. German made 5/8 spike.
Lately I'm enjoying my 2 kamisori an Iwasaki & a Kobayashi.
I sold the best shaver I ever had, and I'm not saying what it was until I get a new one safely in my rotation.
I'll say that it was Swedish, but that's all for now.
20 questions HNSB ? :p :D
It's a real hard call because I've got about 10 straights that I know will give me a fantastic shave but the one that always just feels that fraction better is a Wostenholm frameback.
For over all feel, balance, heft and all I would have to say my Bell, Belfast. It's a near wedge heavy blade with a thick spine and long blade that really solidifies my perfect shave and feel for a razor.
I'm also torn about replacing the scales with vintage horn scales as it may change the over all feel of the razor... but I will do it when I find the scales, so I can put the pressed Boker scales on a Boker razor that will fit the nicely :/

Toss up between my Bengall or my Wosty Pipe. They shave as sweetly as each other, but I have a bit of a love affair with big blades and the Wosty is 13/16 over the Bengalls shade under 6/8, so if I have to pick one, it will be the Wosty for the overall effect.

I had a fine shave with my Wusthof 1/4 wedge last night & almost bbs this morning.
It's either my Mastro Livi 8/8 Bergam Damascus or Josh Earl custom 8/8 or the W&B that Glen aka. gssixgun fixed up...
a few others are in the running too. :)
My 15/16 Wacker or my DD Satinedge. My TI Spartacus is great as well...!
My 7/8 Wacker "Feinster Holschiff", currently followed by Shumate Barber.
Thats tough. Depends on the growth. This is not in order: Henckles,W&B, Revisor, Fili, Wacker, Hijo
Love the bigger blades.
Now that's strange...I have the same little cast iron pot that you have in the picture! Do you actually make the lather in it as mine seems to small for that? I put hot water it in and then my lather mug sit on top..not real sure if it helps with the heat but that would be the bomb if it was like 2 inches bigger (no jokes please)
Anyway, back to the thread....mine is a JR Torrey....Im really new so I don't know if it's just because I happened to have honed it better than my others or if its the blade but I sure get nice BBS out of her.
Hi,
Tough to choose just one or a couple, as I really like all my straights; they all have their own 'personality' !
My (Tatty) Puma 6/8 and my Genco Fluid Steel 6/8 are the razors I probably enjoy shaving with the most.
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ
Bismarck Registered. It is a great shaver.
For german steel it would have to be my 13/16 square point KAMA,and my 7/8 Greaves Frameback for Sheffields.
I have 4 bengals but this 5/8 is my favourite (so far) :)
My Issard frameback first, then my W&B bow razor second.
Are you just TRYING to drive up the price on a bunch of razors? :D
Actually, by best shaver is a 7/8 German Blue Wonder. I reserve it for when I am going out and I want the very best shave I can get.
For me It's my Le grelot with the ramshorn scales.
Always a great smooth shave.
Probably a tie between my Genco Master Barber or an old W&B that was expertly reground by someone and some time along the way. Ironically, these were among the lowest cost razors I've ever bought.
I have DD's, Fili, Whacker, Dovo Bismark, Henckels, W&B's, Engels...And a lot more...But when I wna tthe "best" Sunday shave I pull out a vintage Timor Special (I haven't seeen one like it since I got mine for a measly $30)...It is in mint condition and shaves like a dream.:beer2:
All my razors are top notch but 2 that really stand out and I reach for the most are my Filarmonica 13 DT and 15/16 Wade and Butcher 'Celebrated' extra hollow ground. They both are the perfect match for my skin and beard type.

Max,
I just got the exact same Fily razor with blue scales. I'm really enjoying it too.
For now, my answer is my Bengal, .....for now
I have only had a few shaves with it, but I have to say that my Toyo Scheon Burg 777 surpasses any other razor I have currently. It just seems to be one step ahead of my others!
Hands down it is a no name french worked backed spine Gilbert Raffin 13/16 razor.
Only razor I have finished up to just a coti that doesn't need that extra escher or charnley touch. Most reliable and smooth razor in my collection.

This other french razor is equally as smooth, though I have it finished to an escher.

The Le Grelot in Ram's horn from TI I recently got is quite the shaver as well.
Very tough call here but these 2 are stand outs to me,
Post Shear Co. 6/8's Full Hollow

Wade & Butcher 7/8's reground and scaled by Bob Allman

My DD Goldedge, same as my avatar. Bought and honed by a member here...it's got the elusive edge that I've been working towards with my other razors. Shaves like a dream.

I was going to say Norelco, but it doesn't photograph well.
