    Default Joseph Rodgers ivory set

I thought you might enjoy looking at these,, the one out of the coffin is the first one i've had that still had the etching on the blade,, Joseph Rodgers & Sons, cutlers to their majesties.. (The coffin says to "her" majesty) so it may not have come in this. Though i bought it In the 2 blade set coffin

This is one of my favorite blades as i have 4, 3 are ivory, the one in front has a crack near the wedge pin on the back, but the wedge is still tight.. I have 3 restored which shave very well. I haven't decided what to do with this one.. (the one in the box is a "restored" piece)

Oh, these are wonderful razors, they dont' make them like this anymore. I have several and was able to make myself sell one or two and then stopped
The cracks seem to be quite common, but I've been lucky with mine, only one shattered into pieces during restoration, the others survived which means they'll be perfectly fine for the centuries to come (as long as whoever has them after me doesn't abuse them).

While I'm rather indifferent to Ivory, I do love that "Butter Knife" type of round point. And the coverec tang is just a bonus

But it appears that these are not really covered tangs but a tang sheath?? Something like that. very nice indeed

    Thumbs up

I have 3 Jos. Rodgers razors but none are as beautiful as these ivory examples. I am sure you are a proud owner.

Very nice set of matched razors from a quality manufacturer. You will love these razors. As mentioned above, cracks in ivory are common. Enjoy them!

    Default Joseph Rogers . . .

    Hello, Kirk:

What amazes me about these razors is the meticulous detail, the care put into creating them. You can see the master's hand in the workmanship. Congratulations on your ownership of these two lovely razors.

    Regards,

    Obie
