sure know how to put a guy on the spot!!
Well, it's been difficult, because the only camera I can use is my cell phone. While resolution may be okay, the abilities to focus on close items and light-gathering are subpar. I'll get some decent ones posted up, but don't expect to be able to read the stamping.
Since the metal is not fiercely pitted anywhere, I decided to start the long road to refurbishing this old war horse. The scales are a black material, pretty thin, and kinda warped, so rescaling is going to be a must. Whenever I get to that stage, I'll probably have to send this one and my Pappy's (restoring his, too) to get rescaled by a pro around here. That time will come. I breadknifed it pretty hardcore last night, and that cut it down to between a 4/8 and a 5/16 somewhere. I haven't actually put a measurement to it, just an eyeball. I'll probably give it one layer of tape whenever I start to reset the bevel, just to preserve the old spine, but that will also have to come later. I've got some serious scouring to do to get old dirt, rust and Russkii off the metal...
