    Default Long time no post

It's been over a year and a half since I posted last. Wow! Where has the time gone. We relocated, got new jobs, had a baby, all kinds of stuff. I still have my straight razors. I bought some more off an auction site. I now have some really good razors. I bought a strop blank from one of the recommended vendors here...haven't stropped much lately (haven't shaved much lately) so I don't remember what brand it is. Anyway...I built my own swivel for it. Works really well compared to the crappy one I bought from some guy on ebay for $30.

I found that I prefer either the soaps from Dave ?Anderson? on etsy.com or the italian shaving gel that they sell in the green tube at bath and body works. Good stuff.

With all the articles and advice you all put out I've been able to get some really great results. Thanks to all of you!!!

My advice for the newbs like myself:
    1. Get the wet stones and a chinese 10K
    2. I tried the spine taping thing and don't recommend it
    3. Read as much as you can on this site!!
    4. The best way to tell if your razor is sharp enough is to shave with it
    5. If your beard is long then use a set of trimmers before going with the straight.
    6. Use a light touch (but hold on to that razor), pull your skin tight
    7. Strop, strop and strop
    8. ALWAYS know where that blade is: Keep your eye on the blade. Ask me how I know!

Thanks again all. It'll probably be a while before I post again but I'm going to do some shave-of-the-day posts.

    Take care,

    Andrew
