Thanked: 8what is the one razor you'd love to try?
If you could try out any razor for a month what would it be and why?

Thanked: 72I have it in my posession, my greatgrandfather's.
For that matter I'd want to try any of my ancestors razors.
I don't buy into overhyped razors, there are simply too many quality razors out there.
I do believe in razors with a personal meaning.Last edited by jasp; 12-22-2010 at 10:50 PM.

Want to Try Razor
Right now it is the Wade & Butcher 6/8 quarter hollow frameback I just rigged up with free shutter slat sample scales. I tried it out, but it was "skippy" as a good shaver. I am planning some extensive taped honing, along with taped polishing and a few hundred stropping laps. The blade engraving: The Unequalled And Justly Famed Patent Frame Back Razor. "Justly Famed"...? I surely hope so! Hype; even in the 19th Century!
This is my first frameback. According to the archives, framebacks are great smooth shavers. Time will tell for me. Good thread, RRR

I will have to agree with timberrr59 right this moment, as I had a shave with my 7/8 Wade & Butcher Frame Back tonight, and it was the smoothest and closest shave I have gotten off any straight razor so far !!! love the W&B Frame Back

Thanked: 240Would definitely like to try out a kamasori.... A nice Iwasaki maybe... The price is a little steep for something that I might not be able transition to but for a month trial, yes I think that would be number one

I also have to go with an ancester's razor. I have one of my greatgrandfathers razors, but it has some big chips. Way beyond repair. I hope to get a razor or at least a blade just like it.
Timberrr59 - Love the shutter slat scales. Great idea.

it would be nostalgic to shave with a piece of family history
