    Default Most overrated Razor?

Which popular razor brands do you consider overrated? Due to performance, quality of steel, scale quality, components (nuts and bolts), honability (new word), cost, etc...

Ideally, I would hope that cost of the razor isn't the only factor in the decision.

Ironically, I think some of the most overrated razors are the least expensive. There are a couple of very inexpensive brands that are extremely over hyped, which makes them "overrated" in my book. Maybe not overpriced, but overrated.

What a good point Bill ! I wouldn't have thought of that but it is so true and I know which ones you're talking about. If the OP is thinking of the high priced vintage Fillys and dubl ducks you see on the bay you have to take into consideration that they, and others, are collectibles as much as they are shavers.

Of the dozen or so I've had personal experience with they've all been superlative shavers. The same can be said for obscure Solingen and Sheffield made razors that bring far less $ so the collectible aspect is what brings the price up on those high dollar items. Just IMHO.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Are you just referring to the zeepks, kreigers, and gold dollars? Those aren't traditionally hyped razors.

Which brands are you referring too?

At one time there were several debates here about the Gold Dollar razor. Most of that was before you registered.

    Cool

I am on that side of the fence too, I have hardly ever been disappointed with a name brand new or vintage...

I honestly think my biggest disappointment came with my first Wapi, I had read so much about how great they were, and was never so let down from a razor...

Anything that is sold as a straight razor that really isn't capable of holing an edge to shave with. The cheap eBay damascus blades come to mind.
