    Default J.R.Torrey ?

Are these a good quality razor, just got one with a 3/4 blade and a gold washed tang and shoulder, I've never shaved with a Torrey and have been wanting one, was just curious about them as far as quality and shave. Thanks.

i have to say.. for some odd reason.. whenever i think of a torrey.. i think of the barber's notch..

as far as aesthetics go.. i consider the j.r. torrey to be a very handsome shaver.

Default In all likelihood, you got a really fine razor

    Hi 'Gill,

I've been curious about them also - mostly from hearing lots of happy shavers. Some say they're a step up from the plain jane Gencos, which are also great shavers. I don't know if that refers to them being a bit better finished - more embellished, or if the steel & grind are better. I'll have one some day.

'Hope she puts lots of smiles on your face.

Torrey made some of the best razors out there, in my opinion. You will find that the steel is very hard, but honed up right gives a killer shave and holds its edge for an incredibly long time. I hate to say this, because it will probably drive up eBay prices, but for my money you cannot get a better razor than a Torrey at current market prices.

Torrey is great razors. you will find 1 in 200 may have some issues. Rest if you hone it right you will love it.

blugill, i have 2 torreys, and all i can say is LOVE THEM. shave is as sweet as some clover honey fresh from the comb, and as smooth as a piece of dark chocolate, i am always looking for more torreys, and have my eye on 2 right now, one is a barbers notch the other is a bigger blade
