Thanked: 2Best Electric Razor
Looking into getting an electric razor. I'm getting tired of the whole shaving cream / razor routine and need something quicker and easier. My wife suggest me to go with this Philips razor. What ya think? Am I on the right track? Anyone have any other recommnedations? What are using and are you happy with it?

Thanked: 1195Surely this is a joke, right???
Sorry to break it to you matey, but your speaking to the wrong crowd here. The reason why we are all here is to unite against electrics and disposables/cartridges due to the crappy shaves they provide.
I would point you to an electric razor forum, but I'm pretty sure none exist..... for good reason

Blasphemy !
Kidding aside, I bought one many years ago thinking it would be quick and easy. Remington's best at the time. Took three times as long and nowhere near as good a shave as a DE or a Schick injector of the time. Unless they've improved the technolodgy don't waste your money.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

This would be about the last place you'd want to ask for advice on an electric.

Thanked: 270My dad was a confirmed electric razor shaver and I tried them several times. However I just couldn't accept the results. The last time was about two years ago with what I thought was a quality Braun razor. Before that I had a couple of Norelcos and I think a Remington. My dad didn't like Remington, but liked Sunbeam and later Braun. After an initial spike the shaves deteriorated after about a week. A thorough cleaning produced minimal improvement. A year later I replaced the entire head and once again, good shaves for a week, then couldn't buy a good shave. For the first 40 years I flip flopped between electric razors and disposables/cartridges and more or less swapped irritations.
This year I am getting the smoothest and least irritating shaves of my life with double edge razors and straight razors. The double edge razor gets the job done as fast as anything I have used.
I guess my answer is that I have never been happy with any electric razor I have used. I just can't stand the spotty job they do.

Please understand that I'm not trying to be rude in the least, but I am curious why someone looking for an electric razor would join the original wetshaving forum named "Straight Razor Place" with questions about electrics.
There is an electric shavers forum out there (Electricshaverforums.com), and I'm guessing they would have a better answer than we would here. Unfortunately, I can't see any of the pages, though because I'm not a member there.
Welcome to SRP, though, and should you have wetshaving related questions, I know I can be much more helpful under those circumstances.

Thanked: 0Best electric razor
I am not sure where you are coming from. But I have tried several electrics and have NOT been happy. Steel blades have been my choice for 30+ years. I am new to straight razors, and I have a lot to learn. Try an old safety razor is straight blades are not right for you.

I used to have a Braun and between having hairs pulled by it instead of cut and being hassled in the afternoon about not shaving that day at work (bad 5 o'clock shadow) I wound up throwing it away.
I love the results that I get from a straight and a DE. No problems with the 5 o'clock shadow like with the electric.
