Straight Razor Essay
Hi everyone, I know should be an easy topic but i'll ask the question anyway. I am enrolled in an Bachelor's English class, and i've been tasked with writing a research paper on comparing past with present. So, i thought what better topic than straight razors vs disposable multiblades. Any help in research artilces would help a great deal, as well as it would be a good point of interest to beginners on the fence. Thanks again everyone.

Thanked: 983Have you looked into the Barbers manuals in the Wiki? Would they be of help to you?

Given all the articles I've read on the topic, I'd recommend that you write from your own experience.

There are a bunch of threads that link to various articles in the media, usually they are rather poorly researched and are written just as a response to the novelty of shaving with non-disposables. May be search on 'article' would find some.
I suspect some of the smart vendors have done research on the market, but I doubt you'll get access to that.
The only rigorous research that I'm aware of is on the technical topic of what causes the edge to deteriorate (Popular Mechanics from the 1930s) and on sharpening (Verhoeven's paper from 2004), there should be links to them in the document section of the wiki. Schick's website has a reasonably good description on how they make their razors.
