Considering my next purchase
As I've finally managed to get my life back to normal I've decided to treat myself to a new razor. I've got my eye on a few Dovo's - Renaissance 6/8, Bismarck 6/8, Master's 6/8 and the En Vogue 5/8.
Has anyone here used these razors and if so would they recommend any one in particular?
If there are other razors you guys would recommend that'd be great, but I definitely want to get a brand new razor and £140 including honing is what I'm prepared to spend.
Thanks in advance!Yours sincerely, the little voice in your head that talks when you read stuff.

I like the first two, no experience with the last two.

I can only speak for the Bismark, which I bought a few weeks before last christmas and have fallen in love with.
It gives me great shaves, and has beautiful lines. I have been tempted by the Renaissance and the En Vogue, but in the end the Bismark won for personal reasons.

The Bismarck was the first razor I bought. It is a great shaver. The scales are a bit underwhelming, but the razor is fantastic. I have been using it regularly and the gold is still in new condition. The razor can get a little tarnish from time to time, but it is easily removed with a little MAAS.
The En Vogue has become my new favorite. The blade feels heavy and strong and the jimps help with control. The scales are great and it just feels like it holds a sharp edge over a longer period of time. Both of these were purchased from VBLLC and were honed by Lynn.

I have the 6/8 Dovo Bismark and love it. Thants my vote, yet I have not used the other two razors listed.

SpockIOM,
Of the razors you listed, I only have experience of the EnVogue.
I found it so good, I bought another !!
The Micarta scales, for me, are far too fat - they are almost round in section. For a lot of people this is not a 'problem'.
I had one of my EnVogues re-scaled in polished rams horn by Mr Neil Miller, and these scales really compliment the blade and give a better handling razor (for me)
The EnVogues take a lovely edge, and for me, are super shavers; they are also very easy to maintain and hone.
Good luck with your choice
Have fun !
Best regards
Russ
