Need some options
I'm looking to try a disposable straight, but I need some options.
I'm perfectly happy with my current razors, but I'm wanting to experiment with whats out there. It seems like the next step after using a traditional str8 and DE.
The Feather AC looks like the most popular but I'm scared of that blade.
The Dovo Shavette looks nice, but I've heard mixed things about it. Are there any other good ones out there?

For a shavette i would choose the parker over the dovo anyday
The cost effectively stop me from trying a feather, and i enjoy the aspects of the none disposable razors too much

They sell disposable blade straight on ebay that are really inexpensive. They are not fancy by any means, just really simple. You can put a Derby single edge blade in it that works good. Think of it this way, instead of spending $100 on just a razor blade holder, spend under $10 on a similar version of it so that if you eventually want to try traditional straights, you won't have wasted $100.

I got a Dovo Shavette for Christmas and have used it daily since. (it's my first straight razor).
My only complaint about it is that the standard DE blades you split in half are a bit short. I just ordered the Green insert to use the longer Persona blades to get a bit closer to the size & feel of a "real" straight razor blade.
I've got pretty coarse beard and abuse my skin regularly (I ski 3-5 days a week and just let the elements do their thing) and the only time I've gotten any razor burn is when I got a bit over ambitious and tried to do it in one pass ATG... I thinned the heck out of my skin and had some pink soap, but that was my and not the razor.
I get 3-5 days out of each blade half. The weight of the "razor" is oddly light, but the jimps provide a great hold. I do enjoy the fact that I don't have to worry about stropping and honing, but I kind of want to worry about those things...
All in all I've been pretty satisfied with it and I'm 99% sure that even once I get in to "real" straight razors I'll keep the Dovo around for travelling.
