Thanked: 1371The scales can be made of a rigid material if the wedge is made of a soft material. I remember seeing a thread where someone did glass scales just to see if they could do it. IIRC the wedge was made of silicone.

Here's an idea: Make your own micarta using the silk you described, then finish it of with a jade wedge. That way, you kinda get the best of both worlds.
