Thanked: 1Can this razor be sharpened
I have an older Meher & Grosh Army Officers Razor that was given to me and I can not seem to get it sharp. I am new to the SR world. I watched one of Mr. Abrams videos on what to look for when buying razors and he talked about the spine having wear on it from being honed. The razor that I have has this wear. I like the razor and would like to be able to shave with it and would be curious if it could be sharpened. I live in Dallas, TX and would like to know if there was someone in the area that is a honemiester or if there is someone like Mr. Abrams or himself that I could send the razor to have it sharpened.

Hey cbruce I'm right down the street from ya, in Kaufman and have taken several razors to Larry Andro in Arlington. His web site is whippeddog.com and he puts a fantastic edge on a blade, he has a contact # on his site. If you call him tell him Mark from Kaufman told you about him.

+1 for WhippedDog. Larry put an amazing edge on the 4/8 round tip I just purchased from him

Hone wear, unless it's extreme, usually doesn't mean the blade is ruined...it just makes it a pain to sharpen and may not be worth buying off the 'bay or from an antique store/flea market.
None of us can really tell without looking at it but I wanted to give you some hope and clarify that hone wear doesn't "ruin" a razor... it's merely a red-flag to those who want to actually use it shave with.
