Thanked: 1Newbie Razor Finds
I've never straight shaved before, I'm a DE shaver convert who has been looking for a good straight to start out with. I found a large stash of straights at a local antique store and walked away with these. Im not too familiar with razors, but these had good edges with no nicks. I've been a lurker for a while and finally decided to let a post fly. Sorry if its in the wrong section.
Would any of these be suitable shavers? Or even suitable for a beginner? If not I will probably just turn these over but I don't really even know what I have.
The razors are "boker king cutter", "genco Head Barber, and "extra hollow ground Sheffield"Last edited by kyle485; 01-16-2011 at 12:15 AM.

Thanked: 1The more I look at the Boker, the more it looks like its barely been used at all. How do I determine what size these are? references are made like 6/8 5/8 etc...how do I tell what these are? Also are these razor brands reputable, or even worthy of getting honed and shave ready? I'm pretty tight on funds with school starting back up and don't want to waste my money if these are junk.

Believe me my friend, all of those are very fine razors, all are top notch brands IMO, I like the Sheffield myself, but then that's my opinion. All three are worthy of being great shavers. Just get them professionally honed by someone on site or a vendor on site. You did very very good for a first buy ! Enjoy and keep reading.

If I had luck like that I'd buy more lottery tickets.
You have two of the best there in the Genco & the Boker.
No make on the Sheffiled ?The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.

What great luck! There is no better shaver than a properly honed Boker, and that Genco looks excellent too. Congratulations and you have my sincere envy.
