Default I purchased a new fridour...I think it may have been cut down

I'm not entire sure. The blade doesn't fit the scales. Just like a blade that was broken. Those of you that have Friodours....how long is your blade? This blade is only about two inches long.

There is a picture in the 4th post here. Does this look right to you?

If it's only 2 inches, then yes, it was probably cut down. Normal length should be about 3 I believe. Though I don't see why the blade fitting the scales would be the thing to raise your concern, as those scales are not original to the razor anyway.

The average blade length is approx. 3 inches. I'd say that ones been shortened at some point in time.

    jcsixx,

    Most straight blades I have seem to ca 2.75 - 3.00 ".

I have a few, that have been chopped to ca 2.5 "; they still shave great though

    Have fun !

    Best regards

    Russ

    2" does sound short.
Does the tip look look"rough" at all? Certainly someone could have shortned and cleaned it up well. But often ugly grinding may have been left by someone too.

The standard length of the edge is 2.75"
Some old razors were made larger, close to 3", but that's 1800s sheffield.
2" on that friodur definitely means it's been shortened. We've seen hundreds and thousands of these and they are all the normal length.

Thanks for your replies fellas. The reason I was asking...I purchased the razor new. I wanted to make sure it wasn't damaged and cut down. For what I paid for it...that should have been indicated if it did occur.

Contact the vendor and ask to exchange it if he has another of standard length available. Otherwise ask for a refund.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

From what I understand of new Friodur pricing, I couldn't agree more. If you weren't aware that the blade was shortened, and weren't offered reduced pricing because of it, I would contact the vendor and seek resolution.

    Good luck!
