    Default Family heirloom

Gentleman, I would like some feedback on a future purchase. I pose the question to you.(If you could purchase a SR for everyday use, but also wanted a family heirloom quality. Something that your children would cherish when they were older. What would you buy?

Depends on what you like. I would go with a custom made...then you'll know it's one of a kind

I'd buy a razor that appealed most to YOU!
so when your kids granddkids etc, pick it up it'll be something YOU wanted, loved, cherished and looked after for most of your life!
    but thats jus my opinion.
plus, you'll have more than one kid and grandkid so you can't be sefish and need to start collecting them so the little ones'll have a bit of a selection from dad/grandad lol

Me personally, I'm also leaning toward a full custom job. But that doesn't exclude a refinished older blade ether.

I have 2 razors that are heirlooms and they are run of the mill offerings. But I cherish them. One had broken scales and I'm rescaling it with wood from our ranch.

I'm also writing down a history of these blades so that if I pass before I can hand them down there will be a record of what needs to happen with them and why they are important to keep together. I only hope that a family member is interested in the set so they will care about them for the next generation...

Maybe a commissioning a box to be made to house the full set???

I think whether it's a custom razor or a restored older razor is irrelevant. The fact that it belonged to you will be what matters.
I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

I'd go with something already 200 years old.

    You're just adding history.

Sets are nice whether made up or originally offered as such...
