    Default US Steel/Razors

Do any of the US brands use Pittsburgh Steel? What about Case?

    Cool

Not sure, where they sourced their steel from,,, But I can tell you this, IME some of the NY brands, many of which were affiliated to the Case Brothers, used a steel, or a tempering process that is capable of extremely fine edges....
Anytime somebody wants to experience the most wickedly sharp edge that SR's have to offer that is the direction I point them

I've got a Shapleigh, St Louis, USA & Geneva Pyramid #7, Geneva NY and they both are fantastic razors ! And the steel on both of these takes on a great edge, the Shapleigh is probably one of the best razors I've got, as far as the smoothness of the edge, almost the same smoothness as my W&B. That being said, US has some very good steel IMHO !

I don't think we have really ever determined where the U.S makers sourced their steel from. I'm sure it's within the U.S because the characteristics of U.S Razors are really different than European counterparts.

I've always felt American razors were way under rated and for someone on a tight budget you can acquire a really nice collection for a very reasonable price.

I have a bunch of U.S Razors and they all shave wonderfully with no exception.

Has it been enough weeks yet since the last "My Genco's P!ssing Me Off" thread?

    "My Genco's p!ssing me off."

    "Why's that?"

"'Cause it shaves better than all the other razors I paid five times as much for!"

...and, by the way, my new-to-me Thistle is REALLY starting to annoy me.

Agreed. US steel really is nice. I have had a few, and I've never been disappointed
