Wald is a name that does turn up on the old German razors.
Solingen is the city, Wald is district of this city, where were many cutlery makers.
Most likely, this razor is associated with Klophaus family.
    But I'm not sure.

    BTW FYI

Sollingen is very close to Cologne, its slightly to the east of Cologne. The area is called "bergisch" (mountain-ish), hence the Bergischer Lowe razor (Mountain-ish lion razor) has a nice local ring to it, andso does this razor.

The Klophaus family have been in the cutlery and edged tool business since around 1900. The father - Jacob Klophaus - worked in a surgical instruments factory. He had three sons - Edmund (the eldest) started a cutlery business in Amsterdam, Walter followed in his fathers footsteps.

BTW, the 'Wald' word means forest or wooded place - steel-making centres like Solingen and Sheffield had to be in easy reach of trees in the early days as a source of fuel for smelting. Deforestation would have occurred if alternatives to wood and charcoal had not been found.

'Wald' still has equivalents in english placenames like Saffron Walden and Walden Forest - the latter inexplicably means ''Forest Forest" and in Wold, meaning wooded place or forest.

    Regards,
    Neil

I don't know anything about this razor, but it sure is pretty.

If I have learned anything about razors here it would be that you should have that honed and shave with it. Then you'll know just how good it is.

Congratulations and continued enjoyment to you and your little friend.
