    Default Crescent?

Who made Crescent and were they any good? Seen one recently that had "Extra Hollow Gound" on the blade.

No experience with one but Goins' has Crescent Cutlery Co. being made c.1917-1950 in Fremont Ohio. From what others say it is usually hard to find an old razor that doesn't shave well.

There are a couple others listed but they are spelled 'Cresent.'

The blade on the top (spine?) appears to have very little wear from honing. The words "Extra Hollow Ground" are etched onto the side of the blade in nice fancy letters.
And, directly under that is "Fully Warranted" words also etched.

They really are worth a 1000 words

The word Warranted hints more toward England but hard to say without more info...

I have seen a few different "Crescents" over the years some USA some German and 1 Sheffield so really hard to say what you have...

I agree. The word "Warranted" was used on everything from gun locks to axes on English products. I don't know when it fell out of use, but I'd guess around World War I.

Well, it was an ebay auction that came and passed up my offer, so I don't have a picture of it at the moment. Shortly after that, I did put in a low bid and get it at the starting bid price of 29.99 a J.A. Henckels straight edge razor, 1920's. Blade and handle look in pretty decent shape. Has the figurine of two men on the tang part. with the trademark name J.A. Henckels & Son on it. So, it will be interesting to see and hold. I will take pictures when I have it "in hand".

link to the picture of it for the moment is here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=330527545684

You know what I just notice GeauxLSU? He misspelled the name of Henckels and has it listed as Henckles, which, if someone used the name "Henckels" in a search for straight blade razors for sale would not have hit on this one. He had it wrong.

Little things make or break an auction. He'll probably never know that.
