There's one brass screw in the end of mine that serves as the pivot for the lid. The rest of it is carved from a single piece of hardwood...even the woodgrain in the lid matches the grain into the handle. Your lid and handle are a little different though. I don't know how they would have cut the lid on yours...that's beyond my meager woodworking skills. That said, I've set out to replicate my Great Great Grandfather's box in order to store my other razors and have something I can pass down to each of my kids (Daughter, Son, and Son on the way...any day now). I'd like to engrave the names of the men who've owned/passed on these razors on the inside of the lid so they have a record.

Beautiful razors Jim, I especially love that Crown and Sword, and what a great story! Enjoy them in good health.

Mine got a wooden plug as pivot. They do have something incommon, re design, but I think yours got more class . Great idea to repålicate it too!! Good luck!

    Thanks Z, I will.

Mik- It definitely looks to me like they came off the same train of thought. Maybe mine's a little newer than yours, or from someone who had a little more time to refine things. Certainly the same concept though...and interesting coincidence (even if that's all that it is) that we also share a common Swedish heritage. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, and I'll post up pics whenever I get around to making that box. (Just moved to a new state and got a baby due any day now, so it may be a while!)
