Can anyone help?
I was wondering if anyone could give me any info on this razor? I am sending it out to be honed and cleaned up as it will be my #1 razor. This razor belonged to my grandfather so the sentimental value is really what counts to me. Would just like to know more about it as google searches turned up nothing on this model. Thanks for any help!!

Thanks. That's cool to know the dates. I know when my grandfather joined the marines in 1933 he was stationed in NY. Very possible he bought it then.

First off welcome to SRP! Best of luck on your transition into Striaght Razor shaving! I'd suggest picking up a more affordable razor from the classifieds here so that you don't risk mangling your great grandfather's razor.
I'm making the transition myself and just sent my razors off today to be honed and polished. One's my Great Great Grandfather's, another's my Great Grandfathers, and the third is a cheapy I picked up on e-bay (I got lucky and wouldn't recommend e-bay because of all the risk of getting a bad razor there...if I'd have known about the classifieds here before I bid there, I would have just bought here). Pics of my razors can be found here http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...here-pics.html
Good luck!

Thanks Jim! I'm actually using a Dovo Bismark right now as my main shaver. I just got this razor a couple of days ago. I'm just trying to get some info on the Varsity because I love the history of these vintage blades.

Very cool. Thanks for sharing the pics. I can't tell you more than you can read for yourself on the shank of that razor, but best of luck on your shaving experience!
